An Australian builder is creating a Porsche 911 with one of the model’s defining mechanical principles turned on its head: the engine will sit at the front rather than behind the rear axle.
The car will use an LS-series V8, pairing a widely known engine family with a chassis historically built around Porsche’s rear-mounted flat-six configuration. Carscoops reports that the project is intended to appear at multiple events across Australia.
A front-engined layout fundamentally changes the packaging and weight distribution of a 911. The conversion places this build well beyond a conventional engine swap, turning it into a radical reinterpretation of one of the automotive industry’s most recognisable sports cars.
The builder plans to both show and drive the completed machine in public, offering enthusiasts a chance to see how the unconventional 911 performs away from a static display.
