Porsche is widening the reach of its retrofit infotainment offering, adding support for 2009–2016 examples of the 911, Cayman and Boxster. The expansion gives owners of these sports cars access to Apple CarPlay through an official upgrade path.
The move addresses a familiar problem for enthusiasts: cars from this period remain highly usable and desirable, but their original infotainment systems predate the smartphone integration now expected in everyday driving. A factory-backed replacement offers a more integrated alternative to aftermarket head units.
The retrofit is particularly relevant for owners who want contemporary navigation, calls and media functions while preserving the character and cabin architecture of their Porsche. It also highlights the growing value of manufacturer-supported upgrades for vehicles that sit between modern connected cars and older analogue-era models.
As reported by Car and Driver, the newly supported range includes 2009–2016 911, Cayman and Boxster variants. Porsche's programme gives these models a practical technology update without requiring owners to move into a newer car.
