Škoda has unveiled the Octavia Hybrid, its first model using a full-hybrid powertrain. The new variant expands the Czech brand's electrification strategy beyond its existing battery-electric and plug-in hybrid offerings.
The Octavia Hybrid develops up to 168 hp and is designed to cover short journeys using electric power alone. That capability differentiates a full hybrid from a conventional combustion-engined model, while avoiding the need for regular external charging associated with a plug-in hybrid.
A new powertrain option for the Octavia
The introduction gives buyers of Škoda's long-running compact model another route into electrified motoring. Full hybrids can be particularly relevant for drivers and fleets seeking lower urban fuel use and quieter low-speed operation without changing their charging routines.
Škoda has not disclosed further technical specifications in the information available so far. The initial details were reported by Carscoops.
