EVgo is preparing to debut a 750 kW DC fast charger next year, a unit the company says could recharge electric vehicles in roughly 10 minutes.
The planned charger would be positioned as the fastest in the United States by peak power output. Details of the rollout, including the first locations for the equipment, have not been disclosed in the available information.
Charging power is only one part of the real-world experience: the time achieved by drivers will also depend on the vehicle’s ability to accept high power and the conditions during a charging session. EVgo’s 10-minute figure signals its focus on reducing the time spent at public charging stops.
For fleet operators and EV buyers, higher-capacity chargers could help make longer journeys and intensive daily use more practical, provided compatible vehicles and charging sites can support the technology. The planned debut was reported by Carscoops.
