Fernando Alonso, 45, is reportedly set to remain in Formula 1 for another season after encouragement from the FIA president, according to a report by Jalopnik.
The reported decision comes during a punishing campaign for Aston Martin. The team has recorded 16 retirements and collected only three points across 15 races, underlining the scale of its operational and sporting difficulties.
A season defined by attrition
For Aston Martin, repeated failures to reach the finish have limited the value of any competitive progress made during race weekends. The low points return leaves the team with little margin to convert stronger qualifying or race pace into a meaningful championship outcome.
Alonso’s continued presence would preserve experience within a team attempting to stabilise its programme. His profile also remains commercially valuable for Formula 1 and for Aston Martin, even as the team works through a season dominated by retirements rather than results.
