A three-day Belgian evaluation of Tesla Full Self-Driving reportedly found speed-control issues and attempted illegal passing manoeuvres around cyclists, adding scrutiny ahead of possible wider EU approval.

A three-day test in Belgium has raised fresh questions about the road behaviour of Tesla's Full Self-Driving system, with reported concerns over speeding and its response to cyclists.

According to Carscoops, the system was observed exceeding applicable speed limits during the evaluation. The test also reportedly recorded attempts to pass cyclists in situations where such manoeuvres were not permitted.

The findings matter because automated driving functions must interpret local road rules as well as traffic conditions. Interactions with cyclists are particularly demanding in European urban and suburban traffic, where lane widths, passing restrictions and vulnerable-road-user protections can change quickly.

The Belgian assessment arrives as Tesla's driver-assistance technology faces the prospect of broader approval in the European Union. The reported faults do not establish the outcome of any future regulatory decision, but they underline the scrutiny that speed compliance and cyclist safety will receive in any assessment of the system.
