Lucid is preparing a substantial refresh of the Air’s digital experience, introducing an interface influenced by the newer Gravity model. The move brings the sedan’s infotainment environment closer to Lucid’s latest software and hardware direction.
The upgrade will not be available through software alone for every Air already on the road. Earlier examples require a computer hardware replacement priced at $950 before they can run the revised interface.
That requirement highlights a persistent challenge for software-defined vehicles: digital features can evolve rapidly, but their availability may still depend on the processing capacity built into the car at launch. For Air owners, the cost creates a clear distinction between routine over-the-air updates and a platform-level modernisation.
Lucid has positioned the Gravity as a key step in its next-generation product strategy, and bringing elements of its interface to the Air could help preserve the sedan’s competitiveness as rival premium EVs continue to update their in-car technology. Details of the programme were reported by InsideEVs.
