Tesla has patented an electric fan car concept shortly before its expected Roadster reveal, raising fresh questions about whether active airflow technology could feature in the performance EV.

According to InsideEVs, the patented system uses electrically driven fans — an approach associated with generating aerodynamic effects beyond those available through conventional bodywork alone.

Potential relevance for the Roadster

The timing does not establish that Tesla will install the system in the next-generation Roadster. But the technology could theoretically support some of the ambitious performance claims long associated with the model by helping control airflow around the vehicle.

Patents often protect engineering ideas that never reach production, and Tesla has not confirmed a Roadster application for the fan system. Still, the filing adds another technical dimension to a vehicle whose eventual specification and launch timing remain closely watched.
